Online course: Entry Rights

Price 0.00 BGN / 0.00 €

This course introduces learners to the foundational concepts that govern how EU citizens and their family members enter EU Member States. As one of the core components of EU mobility, entry rights are rooted in EU citizenship, the free movement of persons, and the EU’s legal framework governing internal and external borders.

You will learn how:

  • EU citizenship forms the basis for entry and residence
  • free movement evolved historically and legally
  • entry rights function for EU citizens and their family members
  • documentation requirements apply at borders
  • entry is regulated by the Citizenship (Free Movement) Directive 2004/38/EC and the Schengen Borders Code
  • recent case law of the Court of Justice affects the interpretation of entry rules

This module clearly explains the relationship between free movement, citizenship, and border management, making complex legal concepts understandable through examples, diagrams, and practical illustrations.

You will also explore how entry rights interact with broader mobility rules such as recognition of professional qualifications, non-discrimination, social security coordination, and cross-border residency.

A perfect introduction for civil servants, border officials, legal practitioners, support organisations, and anyone interested in how EU entry procedures work in law and practice.
